Eligibility:
All standard concert band instruments are welcome to audition, including woodwind, brass, percussion, and double bass.
Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 19 as of 31st December 2025. The minimum expected standard is approximately that a level of Grade 7 Trinity (or equivalent).
👀Winter Programme
Monday 13 July- Saturday 18 July (last week of the Term 2 break)
- Concert 1- Wellington College on Friday 17 July evening
- Concert 2- Wellington/Te Papa or similar venue on Saturday 18 July morning
- Rehearsal will start on Monday 13 July, 11am at Wellington College
- Plan your travel to arrive by 10am on Monday 13 July, so you have time to get to our rehearsal venue, Wellington College, and depart after 12pm from central Wellington.
- We will be mentored by the Royal NZ Airforce Band
- Accommodation is at Haka House Wellington

Own Choice Piece: In addition to the excerpts above, please prepare a short piece of your own choosing that best demonstrates your technical ability and musicality. We are likely to listen to anything between 30seconds -1minute, so, if you are planning to plan the entire concerto, just do the exposition 1st subject theme + some more, and that will be all.

- Dates: 2–3 May (Weekend of Term 2, Week 2).
- Format: Online via Zoom with Musical Director Mike Ashton and NZYSW Manager Mary Lin.
