NZCBA Band Weekend 2023 Hastings

Due to unforseen circumstances, this event has been postponed to 2024.

A weekend of fun-filled music making and friendship.

October 29 – November 1 2023 from 7pm Friday til 2pm Sunday in Hastings POSTPONED

Band weekend is aimed at musicians working at grade 3/4 band, or about grade 5 in exams. This event starts on the Friday evening, and culminates in the presentation of a concert on the Sunday afternoon. This weekend will involve lots of music making, with friends old and new, and the experience of working with our esteemed MD for the event, Simon Schofield. 

NZCBA would like to thank James Bevin and Bay Cities Symphonic Band for hosting this event.

Registrations will open in August. Cost of $60 includes morning and afternoon teas

BAND WEEKEND 2022 Katikati  

October 7-9 at Katikati, near Tauranga. 

Hosted by Katikati Concert Band with John Kean and Eryl Raymond. 

Band Weekend is for players at grade 3 to 4 band music level, about grade 5 in exams.   You’ll meet Friday evening, rehearsing throughout the weekend, having a dinner together, and presenting a concert on Sunday afternoon. You’ll play music, meet new music friends, confirm friendships with old friends, and have wonderful weekend working with our MD, Beth Cohen. 

Cost for the weekend is $60. This includes morning and afternoon teas.   

  • Please pay to 03-0642-0745055-002 (or 02) using your Initial/Last Name and Instrument to identify yourself. 

Music 

  • Participants will be given access to either a Winds or Brass and Percussion folder to download/print their own music. 
  • Some music may be handed out for sight reading fun. 

What to Bring 

  • Bring your instrument(s) and all your mutes, reeds, instrument stands, cushion for your seat if desired, water bottles. 
  • Percussionists must bring sticks and mallets and may be asked to bring small percussion.  
  • Casual black and white outfit for Sunday’s concert.

  • Friday October 29 – 7pm to 9pm 
  • Saturday October 30 – 9am to 5pm.  Dinner (optional) from 6:30pm 
  • Sunday October – 9am to Noon 
  • Sunday October 9 – Concert at 1pm
