We recommend these events and music schools around the country:
This unique music school takes place over five intense days in January of each year. Suited to a wide range of abilities, the school is run by Whangarei Youth Music, and takes place next to the rugged Hokianga Harbour. You’ll work hard, and come away a better musician, and you’ll have a great time doing it!
Despite the name, the Bay of Plenty Music School moves from area to area (Taupō, Whakatane, New Plymouth…) in order to share the demands of organising a music weekend for concert band, orchestra, AND choir! It occurs annually in the middle weekend of the April holidays, and it’s a great way to meet musicians from all around the country. A highlight for many is the informal Saturday “blackboard concert”, where people who may have only just met perform together.
