Dates:

Winter Event in Wellington: Sunday 18th – Thursday 22nd July 2021 (four nights)

Cost:
In 2021, the full membership fee has been reduced from $500 to $250, to accommodate the fact that the Summer Event was cancelled. This will include accommodation, most food, costs associated with engaging a professional Musical Director/chaperones/managers, venue hire, concerts, percussion hire, buses, music, etc. Musicians are responsible for travel to and from their home and the rehearsal location.

A deposit of $200 is required upon acceptance of a position.  Final payment is due by May 31st.

Reimbursements will not be made for musicians who find themselves unable to attend for any reason other than bereavement or medical emergencies. If the event is affected by COVID restrictions, participants will be notified of postponements or refunds if the event is cancelled.

Audition Requirements:
Each applicant is required to fill out a form here. This will require the filling out of the form in completion, as well as the submission of an audition video.

On your video:
State your name clearly, first and last. For purposes of adjudication, fingers/hands
must be clearly visible in the frame of your video.

Play all excerpts first. The excerpts for each instrument can be found here. Please note: some of the excerpts that have been set to test extreme ranges of the instrument, do not be discouraged by this! Please give these your best attempt, do some research and listen to the excerpts for an idea of style.
Auxiliary instruments (e.g. Eb/Bass Clarinet and Piccolo) need only play the prescribed excerpt on the instrument, however these excerpts must supplement a normal audition (e.g. a Clarinet audition with Bass Clarinet excerpts).
In addition to the excerpts you must provide one contrasting piece, or several excerpts of pieces of your own choice. Please keep these around two minutes total. Use these to demonstrate your musical range and capability, as well as what you believe are your strongest skills!
For all of these we are looking/listening for tone, technical skill, musical shaping, tuning, sense of style, so be mindful and choose your pieces to show these aspects of music making.

A link to this video must be provided in the form, and there a number of ways you can store this digitally (Google Drive, One Drive, Dropbox, Youtube). Please ensure settings are set properly so that the members of the audition panel are able to view your audition videos.
