James Cook High School Concert Band started in mid 2014, as a junior concert band. Today, it consists of students from Year 9 to 11 students. The Concert Band is a unique ensemble, which consists of woodwind, strings, brass , percussion and three bass guitarists. It is a non-audition band, which encourages everyone to participate and excel as best as they can within the ensemble. JCHS Concert Band has routinely performed at KBB Music Festivals, winning the Peter Goddard Memorial award in 2014 and Joyce Fisher Mentoring Award in 2016. It is The JCHS Concert Band’s first time participating at NZCBA Festival. We are very thrilled to be here in order to learn and to share our music with you all.
