Each musician is required to film/video themselves. The video must not be edited. Don’t worry about your hair either….we just want to hear your music! But take care not to obscure your face and hands.
On your video:
- State your name clearly, first and last.
- Play all excerpts first. Two PDF file(s) for each instrument are contained in the following Google Drive folder. The title of the file indicates the bar numbers that should be played. Please note: some of the excerpts that have been set test extreme ranges of the instrument… they are designed to do so! Please give these your best attempt. Auxiliary instruments (Eb/bass clarinet and piccolo) need only play the prescribed excerpt on the instrument – no solo piece is required from these instruments – however players must also complete the full audition requirements on their standard instrument equivalents (clarinet and flute, respectively). EXCERPTS HERE
- Perform one other piece of your choice: please, no longer than three minutes. You may stop before the end if the work is longer than three minutes, or you may play two shorter contrasting works, or excerpts of these works.
- We are looking/listening for tone, technical skill, musical shaping, tuning, sense of style. Please choose your work(s) to show these aspects of music making.
Load your performance onto your drive (google, drop box etc) and paste the url in the application form. Please ensure permissions are granted so we can open it.
