Band Weekend October 2017 brought together nearly 40 musicians from as far afield as Kerikeri, Taranaki, and Christchurch, to work with a musical director from Dunedin. The Friday night rehearsal was described as “worrisome” and “frightening”!
Saturday brought more practice time both as a band and in sectionals, and great progress was made. The repertoire ranged from beautiful traditional works, like the William Byrd Suite, to the frenetic State Street Stomp, to the spooky Things That Go Bump In The Night.
After a busy day of playing, most of the group met up for dinner, for a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
Sunday was spent top-and-tailing and doing some last-minute polishing before we presented the final concert.
